Did Someone Say....Par-Tay?
10.31.04 (7:40 pm)   [edit]

Friday night was the night of the Akers' Halloween Party Extavaganzzzzzaaaaa. First of all; my apologies for not having the presence of mind to have someone take a picture of me in my outfit.

I was The Grimm Rapper. I had the reaper cloak with hood, a scythe(sickle), a skull mask(my "max") with gold "teef". a big ball cap on sideways and some fake "bling-bling" around my neck. You had to be there....speaking of being there....you need to go to door from hell link and check out VIDEO footage from the party!!!  Especially the Quote of the night!...and many more pix. Great job Mat.

So, without any further ado.....I give you....photos....and commentary...you have been warned...muuaahhhaahaahaaaa!!!

Chris & Kenan(evil petting zoo teammates) as Scarlett and Bill Murray in Lost in Translation "Oh Bill, whisper that line in my ear again like you did at the end of the movie."

Here's Bubba, God's gift to all women...hilarious! that's Amanda in the back...she came as a non-comformist....clever huh?

Here's Greg on the right (evil petting zoo member), one of the "88" from Kill Bill?..he really IS evil..look at those eyes! That's his wife Jeanine in the back as wifey Uma in Kill Bill.

Here's Melissa, Scooby dooby Doo!

Scooby orders another round of jello shooters..errr...scooby snacks...or is she talking to the guy who came as the invisible man?....it's a mystery!

Here's my roomie Star as Daphne(sp?) haha!..caught ya blinking!

Here's Mandy as Velma...jinkies...a clue!

She's hot on the trail of the bad guy! What's up with Strawberry Shortcake (Amber) in the back? Maybe she suspects Fred's been cheating with those darn pesky kids in the back of the mystery van??? That's Lisa in the AC/DC shirt....she came dressed as "The 80's"

Steve and Jeanine..."One Spicy Blackeyed "P" I be!!!"

Here's Floatyman Tony cutting a rug as "The Watsons Pool Guy". If you don't live around this area you probably don't know who that is....but suffice it to say...he was right on the money with that outfit....his gf Crissy came as the Watson's Pool chick....I'll have to find a pic of her...Go Tony! Go Tony!...*Notice DoorFrom Hell Mat the digital pirate in the righthand corner.

Here's Norm....the long lost Von Trapp Daughter of the Sound of Music...it seems they didn't need a bass in their act so she went on to win 8 Olympic gold medals in weight lifting.

Swiss Miss ain't got nothing on you....shake da ass fralien!

Here's Pam...earlier she was Martha Stewart in an orange, prisoner jumpsuit...but she got out of character early for good behavior she cooked all kinds of goodies...what's up with the ring?

And I think I took this one...my aim was off. Crissy, me and Pam chillin on the sofa.

Perhaps more pix to come soon. Walmart didn't put all of them on the cd!!!

Goodbye October
10.31.04 (6:48 pm)   [edit]

Well, yet another month has come and gone and it went with a bang. The concerts at the historical Ryman Auditorium were great. David Berkley, Howy Day, and Nickel Creek packed quite a load! I had never heard of David Berkley but I would best describe his style to that of Glenn Phillips and Beck. Howy Day is a very unique and talented young fella. He had a method of beginning a song with a simple beat or a few guitar chords. Then he would loop them through a device to set up a backbeat and build on it with the main lyrics. it was kinda like a cooking show where they make something from scratch then wow you with the finished product at the end. The ladies seemed to really love him and his spikey hair and moaning lyrics. If I had a date I could have left the show highly confident in my chances of getting some action thanks to his enticing tunes. I could even hear a little U2 influence in his style. I was quite impressed.

And then there's Nickel Creek. Their music is like taking a trip down a musical interstate, getting off at an exit...going through the drive-thru at Dairy Queen, then hopping back on the interstate once again.

Here's a few pix from my trip. As I was stuck in traffic I noticed a lot of fans gathering around one of the buses. So I thought I'd park and go see what was happening while the traffic jams cleared up. I got there just in time to see Sara Watkins step out and give some autographs. I went back to the car and grabbed my camera and got a guy next to me to snap this pic for me: Don't I look thrilled!!??

She's a cutie though. We talked about her boot/shoes that closely resembled Olive Oyle's big toed, high heeled boots, shook hands and I was on my home.

When I got back to the car I took this pic of the side of the Ryman...it used to be a huge church building back at the end of the 1800's and early 1900's:

on the way back home I came to this intersection.....just thought it was fitting to snap a shot of it on Halloween..damned to the right....damned to the left...:

I Have Decided
10.28.04 (6:21 am)   [edit]

I figured out a costume for the halloween party this week.

Foolish Consistency Greg (the host of the party) caught me redhanded at the store last night. So he knows. But here's a couple hints as to what I'll be for the rest of you.

Hypo Matt...makin' copies!
10.25.04 (9:56 am)   [edit]

As you know, or don't know, I am a sales rep for a copy machine company. And I have finally understood how true and frustrating these lines from Office Space are:

keep your volume down on these if you're in your own "office space"

and finally.... http://new.wavlist.com/movies/317/ofsp-paper jam.wav" title="http://new.wavlist.com/movies/317/ofsp-paper jam.wav" target="_blank"http://new.wavlist.com/movies...

Well it's going to be a exciting end of the month for me this week. My trivia team mates and I will be hosting tuesday night at the P&H Cafe. We've got 3 librarians, one private college administrative staff member who is strong in the force of statistical analysis, a medical records professional, and then there's me....not quite sure what my designation is...perhaps Document Flow Consultant/ Recreational Environmental Cohabitation Associate?

Nevertheless, we shall do a great job.

Friday night is the big halloween party at the Akers' domain. I'm still not sure what costume to go with. I'll be happy to take any SERIOUS and AFFORDABLE suggestions from the peanut gallery.

Saturday night I get to go to the historical Ryman Auditorium in nashville to see Nickel Creek. www.nickelcreek.com . And I have the whole day off next sunday so I can finally relax and watch some football!

Ok, time to go to work.

AMERICA! F&#K YEAH!
10.18.04 (4:36 pm)   [edit]

Evil Petting Zoo, FLoatyman Tony, and Pam went to see Team America World Police last friday night. The movie was hilarious. I am a huge south park fan and i've always enjoyed the satirical humor of Matt and Trey.

This movie gave them the chance to do just about everything they couldn't get away with on comedy central.

Door from Hell Mat shared this with me today from the Drudge Report.

Seems that Sean Penn didn't appreciate the subject matter of the movie.

What-CHEW Talkin' Bout Lady!?!
10.14.04 (9:25 am)   [edit]

We're bout to have our monthly meeting where we hand out awards for the previous month. We always have donuts.....Krispy Kreame Donuts.

This old lady at the front desk must be delirious. She just said that the best donuts are fresh plain glaved donuts. Nonesense!

The creame and/or jelly filled ones are the best. It's a scientific fact.

What is your favorite? http://www.krispykreme.com/varieties.html" title="http://www.krispykreme.com/varieties.html" target="_blank"http://www.krispykreme.com/va...#

What animal can be TOTALLY exterminated from the planet and 10 years from now there could be just as many if not more existing once again?

Happiness is a Cloudy Day
10.11.04 (8:49 am)   [edit]

Ok, so most of you out there are city dwelling folk who probably agree with the weatherman that the best days are the sunny, warm, cheery days...well I say POO-TO-YOU weatherman and city people!

It's overcast, drizzling rain, and cool outside today. This is MY kinda DAY!

Speaking of which, if you know me well enough you know that I am a huge waterfowl hunter and bird lover. And my favortie of all is the canvasback.

I have always wanted this print to go on my wall...and my birthday is nov. 13th...hint hint...so if anyone wants to...you know.....score some brownie points.....you know what to do...

Get Out of My Head
10.07.04 (3:36 am)   [edit]

Ever get a song stuck in your head? Or even just a melody? If you could hear this http://audiolunchbox.com/preview.m3u?i=63654" title="http://audiolunchbox.com/preview.m3u?i=63654" target="_blank"http://audiolunchbox.com/prev... you'd know what I've had in my head all night(Smoothie Song by Nickel Creek).

It could be worse though. At Bass Pro Shizzle they play country music "musak" nonstop so by the time I get home I have crap like Toby Keith, Kenny Chesney, Shania Twain etc stuck in my head so bad that it plays during my dreams!!

Does anyone know how or why this happens?

May the TPS Report be with You

Love Thy Neighbor
10.01.04 (1:41 pm)   [edit]

Here's a neat site. Just type in your address and it will give you a list of people in your neighborhood who donated $$ to presidential candidates. It will tell you how much and for whom and their address.

Jedi Mind Trick
10.01.04 (1:38 pm)   [edit]

Seems that Dan Blather and "c-BS" news tried to pull another fast one on us the other day. This story is about a mother who is concerned and very frieghtened of the possibility of the draft being revived. There is a quickly spreading rumor on the internet this week stati ng that there is a bill in congress (sponsored by Bush) that is an attempt to reinstate the draft. The TRUTH is neither Bush nor Kerry want to revive the draft. But there IS a bill concerning the draft but it was created by a democrat congressman. Back to this cbs story. The mother, Mrs. Cocco, is a well known and outspoken leader or an anti-war activist group in her region. The story made her out to be a common housewife with a positive but ev er-growing fearful outlook on Bush. here's the whole story. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/09/28/ev eningnews/main646055.shtml" title="http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2004/09/28/ev eningnews/main646055.shtml" target="_blank"http://www.cbsnews.com/storie...

Related story: MTV's Rock the Vote has a commercial out now planting the seed of fear of the draft as well. It starts off with this young college aged man telling his friend his plans for starting a business for himself once he's out of school. But his friend speaks up and says...yeh....ubless they bring back the draft...."They can DO THAT?" the guy says?.....and the girl goes on to tell him about some bill proposing the draft in congress now. It's misleading. The draft has always been a possibility ever since it was created. Selective service is required of all males when they turn 18yrs old. There is no need for a draft at this time. In fact there are more people enlisted today in the armed services than there was before 9/11. This commercial and the rumor email are nothing more than mindtricks and misleading statements attempting to influence college students and undecided voters of all ages to think Bush wants to "send our innocent boys and girls off to war."...not so...but hey if you believe that email then believe this: If you don't pass this blog along to 10 of your friends in the next 20 minutes bad things will happen to you and your crush will never make themselves known. Oh yeh and also if you believe the rumor emails and mtv draft commercials give me a call 1.800.THICKER1 for some awesome pills I have to sell....they'll give you guys more girth...and girls...get em now for your boyfriends!!!!
